HARBOUR VIEW CAMPUS
Carrolton, VA
When LIBERTYLIVE.CHURCH’s pastor, Dr. Grant Ethridge announced they were opening their first remote campus in 2013, the team quickly made the choice to work with Clark.
We partnered with Clark knowing that we needed someone that could help us design AVL to support ministry with excellence.

Among the first decisions to make was the questions of video broadcast. Liberty’s leadership was adamant they didn’t want the audience to feel disconnected.
George’s philosophy from the beginning has been that a remote campus experience needs to be just as good, if not better, than the broadcast site.
-Houston Clark | Co-Founder, Clark
Liberty’s leadership opted for a three screen model. A life-sized Pastor Grant Ethridge would be projected on the center screen, while the side screens would cut between cameras. Liberty’s long-term vision was to open a church within a thirty minute drive of every home in their region. Wanting to begin as they meant to go, they understood the significance their first remote campus held.
People aren’t squinting to see our screens. We’ve got nice big screens. And for a multi-site campus, that’s huge because there is no bad seat in our environment and that’s amazing.
-Dalton Stoltz | Pastor of Core Ministries, LIBERTYLIVE.CHURCH
Clark designed a system where Pastor Grant Ethridge’s messages are transmitted from Liberty’s campus in Hampton, VA and transmitted over a leased Metro-E connection through AT&T. Encoding is handled by a pair of OpenGear cards from Cobalt Digital. On the receiving end, Liberty at Harbour View had a pair of receiver Cobalt cards, which fed a Grass Valley K2 media server.
This high-end DVR captures two video streams, and their embedded audio, and allows volunteer production crew to timeslip the message. So long as the campus in Hampton starts before the campus in Harbour View, their services can run independent of one another. The K2 was selected due to it’s two-in, two-out configuration: one stream for the static camera shot of the full stage, the second for the close-up shots used on the side screens.
We have people who attend out campuses - literally for weeks - and still believe that Pastor is standing on stage. It’s not until they walk to the front of the worship center that they realize - for the first time - that they were seeing an image projected every single Sunday. They had no idea.
